Dave’s Favorite Steak Sandwich

  • 1 lb skirt steak
  • 1 bag La Brea Bakery French Baguette Twin Pack
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic powder


  1. Slice onion thinly
  2. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat
  3. Add the onions. Stir together, and cook until translucent and light brown.
  4. While the onions are cooking, go ahead and season your meat.
  5. Season both sides of steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  6. Remove onions from skillet and transfer to a plate.
  7. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the same skillet.
  8. Turn the heat up to medium high and add meat.
  9. Let the meat cook until one side is brown and slightly charred, then flip
  10. Cook until both sides are charred and brown (about 4-5 mins each side)
  11. Add onions, stir and turn heat off.
  12. cut baguettes in half, butter, and toast
  13. To assemble,lay bottom half of baguette on plate.
  14. Place meat, followed by a spoonful of juice from the pan. Top with other half baguette.
  15. Cut in half, and devour!


Tip: When purchasing steak you can buy prepackaged skirt steak in your meat department. If french baguette is not available you can also use sourdough baguette
